Social Investment by Dr. Ee’a Jones ~ May 1, 2018
This month I have some information on socially investing in your life. In January, social investment was a part of the types of investment I challenged you to make in the new year. We’re almost halfway done with this year. How are you doing with investing in yourself? Previously, I wrote to “To invest in your social self, make it a point to do activities with friends. It doesn’t have to be anything big…it can be a game night at someone’s house and everyone brings snacks, etc. There are usually some free community activities going on that you can attend.”
Investing in yourself socially can mean different things to different people. It can mean getting on social media to post, comment, or just to view the posts and comments of other people. There’s a variety of different social media apps to partake in right now. Social investment can also mean participating in activities with family or friends inside or outside of your home. These activities can be parties, shopping, weddings, walks in the park, athletic games, and the list goes on. Social activities can be large or small so don’t fret about whether you’re doing something big enough.
Free community activities are usually advertised on social media, in newspapers, and on your local news channels. Some community activities surround holidays and others do not. There are activities for children, adults, family, and friends. They can include parks, parades, festivals, and free family nights at the museum. The beauty of it is that you get to choose what works best for you. There is no set rule about what to do and how to do it. Get out there and get social! Enjoy yourself!
